Ready for the Next Time in Needham, Massachusetts
I took this a few days after the horrible terrorist bombings at the Boston Marathon. As I passed by Needham's Station No. 2 that day and looked at our nation's flag at half-mast, I thought about the courage and dedication of the men and women in our Emergency Services. An incredible bunch - as their collective response during the Boston Marathon bombings showed. So, at sunset I headed back to the station to see if I could take an image of the firehouse. The sky willingly participated by providing a sunset that looked like it was "on fire". I think Mother Nature was saying thanks too. It's not a dramatic image of rescue or heroism as we saw on the TV all that week. But, I actually like this scene more than one of action - because to me, it says "We're ready for the next time you need us."
