Granite steps leading down into the Pawtucket Canal Francis Gate Guard Lock in Lowell's National Historical Park in Lowell, Massachusetts. This was taken as the lock's water level was lowered to allow our boat passage from the Merrimack River into the Lowell canals.
I was positioned in Boston's Museum of Science to hopefully capture some lightning strikes over the Back Bay area of the city, but no luck. All the strikes were to the north or south of me (at least until I put my camera away, of course). I took this just prior to the storm moving in. I was surprised to see so many Duck Boat Tours heading upriver, knowing what was soon coming.
I headed down to Cape Cod during the 4th of July celebrations to try and get Nauset Light with the Milky Way. (t was a gorgeous night. This is a tough lighthouse to photograph because the light wants to wash out the night sky. I had to use a cloth to cover the lens each time the beam swung toward me to avoid blowing out the nightsky, but the red light on the back gave it a definite tint. So, it was on with the cloth, off with the cloth, back on...etc...all why trying to keep the exposure time down so the stars didn't elongate too much.
