Martha-Mary Chapel part of "Ford's Folly" (From the Atlas Obscura: In 1923, Henry Ford came to Sudbury, MA to build a “colonial town” – a 300-person village whose residents would live in the “manner of our pilgrim fathers.” This historic village and museum was to serve as a “splendid example of Colonial America” and re-ignite country’s pioneer spirit). This chapel was named after Henry Ford's mother, Mary Litogot Ford, and his mother-in-law, Martha Bench Bryant.

Soft Serenity at the Grist Mill

Located on the Wayside Inn property (the oldest operating Inn in the country) is The Grist Mill.. This is also a stone's throw from The Martha-Mary Chapel and the single room Red Stone Schoolhouse. This location is an iconic one and the perfect image here continues to be pursued by both casual and professional photographers during all seasons.. Apparently, it served as teh inspiration for the Pepperidge Farm logo.

The best description of this beautiful chapel comes from the Wayside Inn: "The Wayside Inn Martha-Mary Chapel. The Martha-Mary Chapel accommodates up to 150 seated guests and was built by Henry Ford in 1940. Its secluded setting, perched at the top of a grassy knoll and framed by a backdrop of towering white pines, makes this a very popular place for wedding ceremonies." This image was taken during the tail-end of a New England nor'easter.

Falling for Color in the Northeast Kingdom

Geologists looking at roadcuts and photographers looking for scenic images are the worst drivers ever. I passed this by at 55mph and something caught my eye so I U-turned. If anyone asked me my advice on road-trip photography, it would be: "Turn around if you think you saw something - don't wait for 'the next one'." This was taken over the guardrail of Route 302 near Groton, VT (we are terrible pedestrians too).

I'll Go There - Wherever There Is

The small rural roads of southwestern New Hampshire never really surpise you, but they never fail to be breathtakingly beautiful - especially in the Fall. The colors handn't peaked here, but were lucious nonetheless. This was in the Chesterfield area and I'm a sucker for the "tunnel road in the leaves" shot. The common New England rock wall added a nice touch to the scene.
